About a week before the Brabantsedag parade, Kees Buijsen, designer of our 2026 Rijten float, asked me to create a poster for the back of the float to fill an empty frame already built there. His only ask: could the visual convey the story that goes on “inside”? The historical fact that inspired the float:

Cartoons created some time ago to visualize tips in a Riumssen blog post, back when Serge van Uden was also active as his alter ego, The Content King. I drew them in the Riumssen colors, so they’d fit in nicely with the branding even though they’re cartoony. Will we ever see the return of the

How a rejected idea leads to a new one A couple of years ago I worked on a pitch for a DAF Trucks Christmas short, back when I was half of Matte! Nande?. The premise we came up with was sort of Christmas Candyland meets William Friedkin’s Sorcerer: a tenseful truck journey as imagined by

Insects have such weird, fun shapes to play around with. Like this colony of queen bee design sketches, created to explore character design directions. I played around with pencil, ink and watercolors to sketch variations to see what works and what doesn’t. These were commissioned for a happy insects project geared towards kids that never

“Eindhoven is Groen” – one of the pre-show scenes I drew for Toekomst040 at Glow 2025. Since the original campaign identity (developed by Thinc Ahead) was based around colored pencil doodles, I wanted these animated visuals to spring from the same medium. Even though I drew everything digitally due to a tight deadline, I approached

I 🖤 Analog Inking. So I filled a stack of papers with hand-inked characters and elements for last year’s moving Brabantsedag poster, all inspired by carnival iconography. Then I scanned them all to create a sculpture in Blender which I could animate. Here’s a little overview of all those ink drawings, since I never shared

Eindhoven City Hall glow up ✨ The Toekomst040 campaign needed to convey the creative future of Eindhoven with a pre-show on city hall during Glow Eindhoven 2025. So Thinc Ahead and I collaborated to create fitting vibes through animation, capturing the ideas of hundreds of Eindhoven citizens in 6-7 colored pencil visuals I drew &

Hey now, you party animals! Since it’s been carnaval here, I thought I’d share some behind the scenes contributions for last year’s De Rijten carnaval-themed parade float: “The FeastBeast Breaks Loose”. I worked closely with head of design Maarten van der Velden to help with the character design of the FeastBeast. I’m specifically highlighting the

Pretty surreal to see my colored pencil scribbles plastered all over my hometown’s city hall. You can see said scribbles come to life during Glow Eindhoven as the pre-show on city hall. The animation was created for the Toekomst040 campaign by Thinc Ahead and the city of Eindhoven. Merci for the creative collaboration! 📷: Thomas
